You know how 99% of what you think and worry about never comes to pass? Mmm.

Lately I find it is the same with world commentary. Everyone has predictions, and like most folks’ minds, the general narrative is almost always dire. And like our worries, so much of it won’t ever come to pass.

What if there are other possibilities? What would we really lose by focusing on those lighter, more loving possibilities?

I am well aware that our world situation will likely become more chaotic before it becomes a space of complete divine love. And I am also aware of this: Everything exists right now.

Right now, someone is offering kindness to a stranger.
Right now, lovers are entwined in ecstasy and communion.
Right now, a parent is patiently helping their child for the 72nd time today.
Right now, someone is thinking well of you, wishing well for you, feeling grateful for you, and thinking of how much they value and love you.
Right now people are being love to themselves, their beloveds, and the world.

Right now.

Everything else is happening, too, of course. All of the painful things. Always, everything is happening. The question is, what is yours to carry and what is not? Remember, whatever is not yours to carry, you can set it down.

It reminds me of this old Zen story:

An old monk and his two disciples were walking through a field when they came across a giant boulder.
The old monk asked the two disciples, “Is this boulder heavy?”
“What?” They replied, not sure if the monk was serious.

Again he asked, “Is this boulder heavy?”
The two monks looked at each other then looked back at the old monk and said, “Yes. It’s very, very heavy.”

The old monk smiled and replied, “Only if you pick it up.”

Loving you lightly –
Christine
