Which Octave Is Yours?
You know that thing that happens, when you’re talking with someone, and you think you’re talking about the same thing because you’re using the same words, but then at some point you realize you’re not talking about the same thing at all?
I see this happen a lot. Even when talking with friends and colleagues in the same field, I see we’re sharing vocabulary with words such as awakening or ascension, but that these words mean different things to each of us.
I realized this a couple of years ago when one such friend of mine said something to me like, “Oh, you’re starting to wake up.” At the time I actually took offense, because according to my definition of awakening, she wasn’t appearing very awake to me at all! Not to mention I was currently working as an “awakening guide.” So what was with this pot calling the kettle white, LOL!?
And then I realized awakening meant something wholly different to her than to me. It was another good cosmic joke, one that served me at every level. Because I had recently made a bold declaration to the universe that I wished to transcend the limitations of my ego as I knew it. And guess what trotted right into the conversation in response to her comment? My ego! Because ego is the only part of me that could be offended at such a comment. Beyond ego there is no opinion about that.
So not only was the universe answering my prayer with a laser precise strike and trigger, a “let’s get right to the heart of the matter” kind of opportunity, I was also now laughing. And learning!
That prickly moment is part of what has brought me to today, which is a discourse around the three primary meanings I see people referring to when they talk about awakening. I know there are many more (and I’d love to hear what it means to you – please share in the comments!), but for now, here’s a look at these three.
I’m calling these various views “octaves” because their resonance is very different. Like on a piano, one octave isn’t better than another, or “more advanced,” just a different vibration. My designations below do not indicate any particular order or linear progression – just the various views.
Octave 1: Opening up into a remembrance of who and what you are beyond your human person. This will include things like exploration of other lifetimes, your star lineage, your God/higher self, and your inter-dimensional gifts and capacities. A discovery of greater self beyond your small self.
Octave 2: Coming into a deeper and ongoing awareness about what is going on in the world, waking up to structures and institutions that are less than benevolent and opening your eyes to hidden agendas, control of narratives, distraction/crisis/smoke & mirrors and more.
Octave 3: A path of transcending the limitations of the small self/higher self/all selves/world self and all constructs of identification. Living from a non-self consciousness and being.
I have whole discourses to share on each type, but that is too much for this article…to be continued… because it’s so interesting! I see that all of these octaves share something in common, which is opening into awareness beyond what you have previously known, thought, or could fathom. They really are all different octaves of the same thing!
For me every day holds an infinity of such awakenings. I watched one between my brother, daughter and son-in-law when we were together this past summer in Colorado. It was around home schooling. Natalie home schools her kids, and Tim held a position that children would be better served by being out in the world, socializing, and experiencing a wider reality.
Tim asked Matt, my son-in-law, about the homeschooling. Matt began describing it, and Tim lit up. He was learning of things he didn’t yet know. Concurrent to this, Tim had been observing their children through the week… their manner, balance, curiosity, comfortability with selves, and energy. He was impressed. He said, “You know, I just love having my mind changed. And I’ve done a complete 180 on this. It’s clear these kids are doing so well. I mean, they aren’t even going to need therapy!”
We laughed out loud at his words, with Natalie responding, “Well I don’t know about that!” and we laughed some more. I loved watching this dynamic unfolding in the change-zone of life. Where things come to light. Where we know more than we did before. Where we see in a new way.
I know not everyone wants to live int the change-zone. Some people love for things to stay the same as much as possible. The old joke – “Why would we do it that way? Because we always have!” still has traction.
And yet the world is changing. People are waking up whether they are consciously choosing this or not. And for me the change-zone is where we move into an ongoing yes-zone rather than the no-zone. It’s the “I wonder” place rather than the “I know’ place.
There is so much more to know. There is always more to see than we’ve yet seen. There are minds to be changed, beliefs to be dissolved, prisoner-selves to be freed. All of it is an amazing path, and the most worthy one I know.
We can be right, we can be wrong, or we can be free. And for me this freedom is the essence of unconditional, unconditioned love. It’s wide open there. Nothing fixed, nothing tight, nothing small. I’ll see you in the field –
Sending you so much love,
Christine
PS – I call the picture triptych “Clear, Connected and Elevated,” which is how I love to work with my clients. Clear the interference, connect to higher self, source, and your truth, and then let it all go and fly in pure freedom. Find out more about group and one-on-one opportunities on the homepage.
